KM Packaging introduces a new cling film that is compostable and offers industrial versatility.

Plastic packaging has revolutionized the way food is packaged and kept fresh. Consumers in the 70s discovered a new skill when they mastered the art of unwrapping film and sealing everything from fresh groceries to favorite snacks at work.
However, traditional plastic packaging is not usually recycled. For example, this may be due to food contamination or restrictions in the collection or processing system.
Now KM Packaging, a global supplier of flexible packaging and closure films, has launched a new alternative, home-compostable C-Cling.
C-Cling is a transparent, elastic and tacky material with the same characteristics as traditional polyethylene film. In addition to home use, it is ideal for industrial packaging of large volumes of fruits, vegetables and other fresh products on trays. This also applies to catering and restaurants.
The product is flexible in material and properties, from everyday use in food service establishments to the safe storage and transport of food, to the protection and preservation of food quality and taste in a retail environment.
In addition, C-Cling, made from bio-based, renewable resources, is the ideal partner for compostable bins to create end-to-end packaging solutions.
Historically, plastic film has been used for industrial-level food packaging, with the first version, known as Saran, being used to protect military equipment and later food packaging.
C-Cling is equally versatile. And besides fresh food packaging, C-Cling is also suitable for secondary packaging such as pallet packaging.
This product is part of the C-Range bioplastic range developed by KM Packaging in collaboration with Treetop Biopak, a specialist in innovative compostable packaging solutions.
Treetop owner Amir Gross said: “C-Cling can be used on an industrial scale to pack a wide range of products and is especially useful when pallets are also composted.”
C-Cling films comply with EU food contact regulations 1935/2004 and 10/2011. It also complies with FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.1630, provided that its use is subject to certain recommended limits and good manufacturing practices.
C-Range expands KM’s portfolio of sustainable flexible packaging solutions and provides customers with a wider range of options.

Offering one of the most complete ranges of lid films on the market today, we work closely with our customers to find the right packaging solutions to protect, display and preserve their products.
